Existing Building Commissioning

If you’re looking for ways to lower your utility costs, operation overhead, and make your building more efficient, GMC Commissioning’s Existing Building Commissioning (EBCx) is the answer. EBCx is for buildings that have high energy use, unexplained increases in energy consumption, abnormally high failure rates of systems and equipment, and persistent issues maintaining constant conditions.

A Holistic Approach to Optimization

Despite initial commissioning efforts, even well-maintained buildings experience a decline in efficiency over time. This is where re-commissioning, retro-commissioning, ongoing commissioning, and Monitoring Based Commissioning step in as crucial measures to maintain and reduce energy consumption.

Our EBCx process isn't just about fixing isolated problems; it's about taking a holistic approach to optimization. We delve deep into every aspect of your building's operations, leaving no stone unturned in our quest for efficiency. From fine-tuning existing systems to implementing cutting-edge technologies, we leave no opportunity for improvement untapped.

A Proactive Approach to Efficiency

At GMC Commissioning, we understand the importance of a proactive approach to efficiency. Our EBCx process involves thorough planning, assessment, investigation, analysis, and optimization to ensure that your building operates at optimal levels. By identifying inefficiencies and areas for improvement, we pave the way for significant cost savings and environmental benefits

Advanced Analytics

GMC Commissioning implements a custom, in-house developed Skyspark MBCx program including tagging, mapping, developing fault detection algorithms, rules, and dashboards to assist in the existing building commission process. SkySpark is a software analytics platform that automatically analyzes system-level building data and provides building insights.

GMC Commissioning custom developed energy applications give building operators insight into where and why energy is being used. Dashboards show real time building energy demand compared to baselines, historical data, and statuses of lights and HVAC systems within the same timeframe. e help clients realize the benefits of SkySpark with set-up and implementation assistance including.

Retro-Commissioning

Retro-commissioning existing buildings offers the most benefit in terms of opportunities for cost savings and improving energy efficiency in commercial and industrial building. Retro commissioning is the same systematic process as new construction commissioning, but applied to existing buildings that have never been commissioned to ensure that their systems can be operated and maintained according to the owner’s needs.

Energy Audits

On average, commercial buildings waste 30% of their energy, according to the EPA. Commercial energy audits and the energy saving recommendations they produce help businesses reduce that waste while lowering operating expenses, reducing their carbon footprint, and allowing them to qualify for energy rewards programs to secure better financing.

Re-Commissioning

As soon as a building is operational, systems begin to drift and wear. Re-Commissioning provides a reset as if the building systems were being installed new. For buildings that have already been commissioned or retro-commissioned, it is recommended that the practices of recommissioning or ongoing commissioning be applied.
